Enhancement FundThu, 23rd February 2012

The Ventnor Enhancement Fund (VEF) is a registered Charity established in 2006 with the object of: the preservation, enhancement and maintenance of public areas and amenities of Ventnor for the benefit of the public.

Projects have included:

  • planting out areas such as the, now removed, flower beds along the seafront;
  • planting and maintaining the beds outside the Royal Hotel;
  • maintaining and paying for the lighting in Ventnor Park;
  • maintaining the lighting on the Cascade;
  • completing the Sea Breeze Park project; and
  • now working on a project for an open air stage behind La Falaise car park and an outdoor fitness scheme on the site of the former children's playground in Ventnor Park.

It has invested in the development of books on local walks with CD and tactile bookmarks for the elderly and anyone unable to get out and about. These have been successfully used with dementia patients and we are looking for other outlets.

It is also helping to finance a Butterfly Project and giving start up money for a Woodland Scheme up at Soapsuds Alley (Steephill Downs Road).

It holds an annual BBQ which is very popular and provides mulled wine and mince pies at the Carol singing in Ventnor Park.
