title="Ventnor Town Council on the Isle of Wight">

, welcome to Ventnor Town Council websiteThu, 23rd February 2012

Ventnor is a Victorian seaside town located on the south-east coast of the Isle of Wight with just over 6,000 residents.

The Victorian novelist Henry James described it thus:

"Ventnor hangs upon the side of a steep hill, and here and there it clings and scrambles, is propped up and terraced, like one of the bright-faced little towns that look down upon the Mediterranean"

Its sheltered climate, local ecology, fascinating history and remarkable literary connections make it a vibrant place to live or visit. We are well served with restaurants, pubs, shops and hotels and the town attracts many visitors throughout the year. Whether enjoying the bucket and spade delights of our beautiful beaches (where Charles Dickens organized daily games of rounders), discovering the magnificent walking country on our doorstep, or spending the day at our internationally recognized Botanical Gardens, a warm welcome awaits.

This website provides information for residents and visitors alike, and we hope you will take a few moments to see what our town has to offer. We’d also like to hear from you with comments and feedback.

You can find details of our Council Meetings, and Minutes from them, current planning applications, local maps, places to visit, our history and much about our richly diverse local ecology and wildlife. The site is regularly updated with events information and contains contact details for local businesses and organizations. Our Town Council is here to serve you. Information about the local Councillor for your ward, and how to contact them, can also be found here.
