Visiting Ventnor  »  Things to doThu, 23rd February 2012

Ventnor has two outstanding Festivals each year:

Ventnor Carnival

Ventnor CarnivalVentnor Carnival dates its tradition back to 1889, making it the second oldest in the country. On 10 September of that year a torchlight procession was followed by a vast procession embracing numerous tableaux, cars and three bands of music following a route through the town to the Park.

The 2011 Ventnor Carnival Week starts on 14 August with the main parade programmed for 17 August and the Illuminated procession on 20 August.

V-Bay Festival

V-Bay FestivalAs its organisers declare: At a time when most seaside towns are shutting up shop, Ventnor launches into the V-Bay Festival – four days of music, the arts, fine dining and family fun activities ... and food all around the town, on the esplanade, on the beach and even on the water.

The event, held each October, is organised by a steering group of representatives from local businesses and is fully supported by Ventnor Business Association. Any surplus is donated to charity.
